Wage-setting decisions

From 2006 to 2009 the Australian Fair Pay Commission was responsible for adjusting federal minimum and classification wages.

In relation to its wage-setting function, the Australian Fair Pay Commission:

  • adjusted the standard Federal Minimum Wage;
  • adjusted special Federal Minimum Wages for employees with a disability;
  • adjusted basic periodic rates of pay and basic piece rates of pay payable to employees of particular classifications, including junior employees and employees to whom training arrangements apply; and
  • adjusted casual loadings in Pay Scales.

The Commission conducted annual wage reviews and announced its decisions in July, with an implementation date in October.

The Commission also made decisions relating to specific industries or groups, such as workers with a disability.

Details of all the Commissions decisions by type and year can be viewed via the links on the left-hand navigation bar.
