Who we are and what we do

The Australian Fair Pay Commission is an independent agency responsible for adjusting federal minimum and classification wages to promote the economic prosperity of Australians.

The Australian Fair Pay Commission Secretariat supports the Commission in wage-setting by:

  • conducting and commissioning an ongoing program of social and economic research on a broad range of matters relevant to minimum wages;

  • conducting consultation and submission processes to engage all levels of stakeholders through focus groups and online discussion forums;

  • evaluating and monitoring the impact of the Commission’s wage-setting decisions;

  • undertaking communications activities to promote understanding of the Commission, and its role and functions to the wider community; and

  • providing corporate and administrative support to the Commission.
